Local NZ numbers (DDIs)
Direct-dial numbers from any calling area in New Zealand. Take a local 06 number for Hawera, Whanganui or Palmerston North, or a number in Auckland or Christchurch so customers there can call you at local rates.
0800 toll-free numbers
Let customers call you for free from anywhere in NZ. Great for enquiry lines, support desks and advertising, and a simple way to look bigger than you are. Bundles of inbound minutes are available.
028 numbers
New Zealand's VoIP number range, not tied to any town. Handy for nationwide businesses, second lines and mobile teams that do not want to give out personal mobiles.
Keep-your-number porting
Bring your existing landline, 0800 or 028 numbers to Talk2Me. We handle the paperwork and cutover so callers never notice a thing.
International numbers
Local numbers in Australia and dozens of other countries, so overseas customers can ring a familiar number and it lands on your desk in South Taranaki.
Virtual & memorable numbers
A number that forwards wherever you like, or an easy-to-remember local or 0800 number for your marketing. Ask us what is available.
Number porting, explained
Porting is the process of moving a phone number you already own from your current provider to Talk2Me. You keep using the number as normal until an agreed cutover time, we take it over, and your callers dial exactly what they always did. You will need to sign a porting authority and give us a recent bill showing the number and account holder; we do the rest.
Before you port, tell us if the number is tied to a broadband service, because moving the number can cancel the broadband with your old provider. We will sequence the change so nothing drops out. Read the step-by-step guide: Transferring your phone number to Talk2Me.
Local 06 number or 0800?
A local number gives you a familiar 06 presence in the region and costs the caller a normal call. An 0800 number is free for the caller and you pick up the cost, which is exactly what you want on an enquiry or support line where you never want price to stop someone ringing. Many businesses run both: a local number on the sign and an 0800 in the advertising.

Can I keep my current phone number when I switch to Talk2Me?
Yes. Almost any NZ landline, 0800 or 028 number can be ported across. You keep answering it as normal until the agreed cutover, and callers notice nothing. Our knowledge base explains how porting works step by step.
How long does number porting take?
Simple local number ports are usually completed within a few working days once we have your signed authority and a recent bill. Ports involving several numbers, or numbers tied to a broadband service, can take longer, and we will give you a date up front.
What is the difference between an 0800 and a local number?
Calls to an 0800 number are free for the caller and the cost is picked up by you, the business, which is great for enquiries and support lines. A local number costs the caller a normal call and gives you a familiar 06 presence in South Taranaki, Whanganui or Manawatu. Many businesses run both.
What is an 028 number?
028 is a New Zealand number range used for VoIP and virtual services. It is not tied to a town or region, so it works well for nationwide businesses or a second line for a mobile team.
Can I get a number for another town or country?
Yes. We can supply local numbers for any NZ calling area, so a Hawera business can have a Palmerston North number, and international numbers in Australia and dozens of other countries so overseas customers can call you at local rates.
What does a phone number cost?
Numbers are included with many of our plans and available as low-cost add-ons on others. Talk to us or request a quote and we will price the exact mix of local, 0800 and international numbers you need, GST included.
Need a number, or want to keep yours?
Tell us which numbers you have and which you would like, and we will sort porting and pricing, incl GST, with no long-term contract.
