How Teams Calling works
If your team already spends the day in Microsoft Teams for chat and meetings, it makes sense for phone calls to live there too. Teams Calling connects your Microsoft 365 tenancy to the public phone network through Talk2Me, a setup Microsoft calls direct routing. Your staff get a dial pad in Teams, calls ring on their laptop, desktop or mobile Teams app, and callers see your normal business number.

It turns Microsoft Teams into your business phone. With Talk2Me providing the phone service, your team can make and receive ordinary phone calls to landlines and mobiles from the Teams app on a laptop, desktop or mobile, using your business numbers.
What Microsoft licences do I need?
Users need a Microsoft 365 licence that includes Teams Phone (either bundled or as an add-on). We handle the calling side; you keep managing users in Microsoft 365. Tell us your current licensing and we will confirm exactly what is required.
Can I keep my existing numbers?
Yes. We port your current landline, 0800 and 028 numbers across and present them in Teams, so customers keep dialling the numbers they already know.
Can some staff use Teams and others use desk phones?
Yes. Mix Teams users with staff on desk phones or the mobile app on the same system, transfer calls between them, and only pay for Teams Phone licences for the people who need them. Teams-capable Yealink handsets can also act as both a Teams device and a normal VoIP phone.
What happens if Teams or Microsoft 365 has an outage?
Calls can automatically fail over to a desk phone, the mobile app, or a mobile or landline number when your Teams client is unavailable, so incoming calls are still answered.
Is Teams Calling better than 3CX for us?
