Fibre Broadband vs VDSL, which is right for you?
Two of the most common connections in our region are Fibre Broadband and VDSL. If you are deciding between them, here is the plain-English version.
Fibre Broadband
Fibre runs light down a glass cable all the way to your home or office. It is the fastest and most reliable option we offer.
- Speeds from everyday plans right up to Hyperfibre
- Consistent performance, even at peak times
- The same upload and download options for those who need them
- Not affected by distance the way copper is
If fibre is available at your address, it is almost always the right call.
VDSL
VDSL uses the existing copper phone line. It is a solid option where fibre has not arrived yet.
- Good speeds for most households
- Available in many areas before fibre is built
- Performance depends on how far you are from the local cabinet
How to choose
- Check your address to see whether fibre is available at your place.
- If fibre is there, choose Fibre Broadband.
- If it is not there yet, VDSL will keep you connected, and we will let you know when fibre arrives.
Either way you get unlimited data, a public IP as standard, and no long-term contract. Still not sure? Talk to us and we will recommend the best fit for your place.
