Setting up your router for the first time
Getting connected for the first time only takes a few minutes. Follow these steps and you will be online in no time.
Before you start
Make sure your connection has been activated. We will email or call you to confirm your service is ready and your router has been configured.
Step by step
- Connect the router to the network. For fibre, plug the router into the ONT (the small white box installed on your wall) using the WAN port. For VDSL, connect the router to your phone jackpoint with the supplied cable and filter.
- Power it on. Plug in the power adapter and switch the router on. Give it two to five minutes to start up and connect.
- Wait for the lights. The internet or WAN light should turn solid (usually green or blue). A flashing light usually means it is still connecting.
- Join the Wi-Fi. The default network name and password are printed on a label on the router. Connect your phone or laptop and try loading a website.
If you are not connected
- Give it a full five minutes after powering on, the first connection can take a little longer.
- Check every cable is firmly seated, especially the fibre cable into the ONT.
- Restart the router by switching it off, waiting ten seconds, then switching it back on.
